It’s been awhile, hasn’t it? Would you believe me if I said that I have a good reason for my absence? How about a couple of good reasons?

Before I get into them, I wanted to share one of my little traditions with you. The night before my birthday, I always make a list of things that happened within the past year. It can be things I did, things that happened to me, and things that happened in my world that I always want to remember.

When I turned eighteen, I made a list of seventeen things. When I turned nineteen, I made a list of eighteen… you get the idea. Then, when midnight hits and I’m officially another year older, I immediately add one item to the list to complete my age. I make it a wish for the year, something that I want to happen for myself and strive for, so that when my next birthday comes, I can hopefully add that to my list of accomplishments.

I’ve been making these lists since I was in high school and it’s a great way to remind myself to always live a life worth writing – or in this case listing – about. I like to think it’ll also come in handy when I’m an old lady, married to Ryan Gosling, and have a hard time remembering my life due to Alzheimer’s… what do you mean this already happened to someone else in a movie?!

Anyway, in a few weeks, another birthday is going to pass, and these are some of the things that happened in the last four months that I’ll be putting on this year’s list:

I ran the BMO Vancouver Half Marathon – my first one ever! (Stay tuned for a post on that experience).

I got some sun in Vegas for a friend’s bachelorette party. Here’s the amazing view we got to wake up to every morning:

My friend Kali and I channeled our inner Sherlock Holmes for the BC Lung Association’s annual Rush Vancouver Urban Race and Scavenger Hunt.

I raced around in a giant hamster ball during a work event.

I turned rainbow for Colour Me Rad Vancouver.

What’s something you’ve done this year that you’d add to your Birthday List?
