Awhile back, my friend Saschie blogged about these Nutella Chocolate Chip Cookies and I FELL.IN.LOVE. I seriously make them at least three or four times a year. Whether it’s a forgotten birthday, a spontaneous potluck or harsh chocolate cravings, these cookies are the perfect solution to all of life’s little problems.
They also make awesome, inexpensive Christmas presents!
Yes, these are essentially chocolate chip cookies with Nutella swirled into them, but don’t belittle the power of Nutella. Not only is it freaking delicious in or on pretty much everything, but it also helps keep these cookies soft for days after baking.
I love microwaving these cookies for a few seconds and once they’re warm, dunking them in icy cold milk right before taking a bite. God. That’s heavenly.
**Ingredients list and measurements follows below**
Preheat your oven to 375F.
Mix warm – not hot! – melted salted margarine or butter together with granulated sugar and brown sugar. After a minute or so, the mixture should have a creamy look to it. Add in egg and vanilla. Mix everything together.
Now for the dry ingredients. Sift together flour, baking soda and salt. Give it a good stir to make sure everything is incorporated properly. Add half of dry mix to the wet ingredients. Mix together and when only some flour is left in the wet batter, add the rest of the dry mixture.
Stir in chocolate chips. And then, drizzle in Nutella spoonfuls. Don’t get too antsy and overly mix everything. You want a nice marble effect with the Nutella, so folding it a few times into the batter should do it.
Drop rounded tablespoonfuls onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. These cookies will melt a lot in the oven, so set them about 2-3 inches apart from each other. Use the palm of your hand to flatten the rounded mountains of goodness.
Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Let them cool slightly before removing to a cookie rack.
½ C granulated sugar
3/4 Cpacked brown sugar
1 C of salted margarine and/or butter, melted
2 ¼ C of flour
1 tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 ½ C chocolate chips
2-3 heaping spoonfuls of Nutella
